Hong Kong produces a vast amount of sewage sludge every day – 1200 tons – equal to the weight of 171 elephants! It is not possible to just dispose of this at the landfill – so the solution is to burn it at a high temperature of 850C. Advanced incineration technology using a high-tech thermal process has been adopted to ensure efficient and reliable treatment of sludge. With two plants of 4 incineration trains in the facility, T · PARK can handle a maximum capacity of 2,000 tonnes of sludge per day.

The heat energy generated from the incineration process is recovered and turned into electricity that can support the needs of the entire T-Park facility. When running at full capacity, it produces up to 2 megawatts (MW) of surplus electricity for the public power grid- enough for 4000 households, which is an impeccable example of “waste-to-energy” in action.

After incineration, sludge is converted into ash and residues – a total reduction of 90% of the original volume, dramatically cutting down the quantity of waste to be disposed of in the landfills and reducing emission of greenhouse gases by up to 237,000 tonnes a year.

T-park has 9800m2 of landscaped gardens and a 2200m2 birdwatching area, and 3 spa pools at 160C, 260C, and 360C.

Our visit will include: 1. Use of the spa pools 12.30 to 13.45pm
2. Guided tour of the facility in English 15.45-17.15pm

You can wander around the garden area, the bird watching area and the roof garden during your visit and also try the vegetarian restaurant.

Bring: Swimming clothes – no skimpy bikinis please. Towel and any required toiletries, $5 coin for locker. Cash for restaurant.

Please note photography and smoking or vaping is not allowed in the spa area.
