Talk on Snakes of Hong Kong
April 29
$100Talk on Snakes of Hong Kong by William Sargent
Saturday, 29th April 2023
Pui O, Lantau
We are pleased to invite you to a talk about our local snakes by the well known snake expert William Sargent. William is a long-term Hong Kong resident with over 30 years of snake handling experience in Hong Kong, a wildlife enthusiast and snake catcher for the Hong Kong Police. We will visit his home on Lantau where we will learn more about these fascinating reptiles and even get the chance the meet a few! As William will tell us, although many people are very scared of snakes, many are not dangerous. He will give us an introduction to Hong Kong snakes and help us to identify important species and where they are likely to be found. Around 100 people in Hong Kong are bitten each year, but the last snakebite death was 30 years ago. So another aspect of the talk is how to avoid being bitten! |
After the event we will have lunch at Pui O and then either return by bus to Tung Chung or Mui Wo OR (weather permitting) take a short hike back from Pui O to Mui Wo.
Places are limited to 15 – so members only and first come first served – message me on What’s App 6128 1366.
Cost: $100 donation to Nature Conservancy – pay on the day. Pay for your own lunch.
