A scenic hike to visit the Mini Grand Canyon north of Tuen Mun. We will travel by hired bus to the outer area of Tuen Mun and then slowly walk up the somewhat steep path leading to the gorge (Total ascent 250m). Part way up we will have a short break for a drink and a snack. The scenery in the area differs considerably from elsewhere in HK, being quite eroded with few trees. The gorge is quite special – so make sure your camera is working.
After all our pictures are perfect, we will set off down the path towards the coast, with views across Deep Bay. We will turn off from the road not long after leaving the path to visit the lychee groves, the fortified building used by Sun Yat Sen, and a pleasant Buddhist temple. Continuing North we will continue to enjoy good views of the Bay, visit the mud flats to look for crabs, including the amazing horseshoe crabs, before we reach our pick-up point of the App Store – a pleasant village restaurant with photos of the sunset which is a feature of the area.
